At
Telosa Software, we are committed to running an environmentally
sustainable business that leaves as small an eco-footprint as possible.
We pride ourselves on being one of the most environmentally responsible
companies in our industry.
Reducing
our Carbon Footprint
Telosa Software, Inc. headquarters in Palo Alto, California runs
entirely on 100% clean energy. Through the Palo
Alto Green program, we purchase 100% of our energy from wind
and solar generation sources. Telosa's commitment to clean energy
prevents, on average, the emission of 36,072 pounds of greenhouse
gases from entering the atmosphere annually. This has the equivalent
environmental benefit of removing 3.5 cars from the road or protecting
over 13 acres of forest.
Certified
Green
Telosa Software, Inc. is proud to be certified "green"
by the Green Business
Program. This means we have met specific requirements to become
certified and below are just a few examples:
- Solid
Waste Reduction and Recycling
Most of our printed materials and our CD envelopes are printed
on 100% recycled content and printed with vegetable based inks.
- Energy
Conservation
Telosa performed an energy audit and replaced all of our lighting
with high-efficiency fluorescent ballasts and bulbs. We also use
100%
green energy from our local utility company.
- Water
Conservation
Following an indoor and outdoor water audit, we have installed
low flow fixtures throughout our office as well as water conserving
exterior irrigation and landscaping.
- Pollution
Prevention
Telosa Software offers incentives for employees to take public
transportation. We now have almost 50% of our staff telecommuting,
carpooling, using public transportation, or driving hybrid cars.
In addition, we purchase carbon offsets for all Telosa employee's
air travel from NativeEnergy.

What
can your organization do to be more Green?
Reduce
Waste
- Make
sure every employee has recycle bins for paper, newspaper, cardboard,
glass, metal cans, and plastic (#1-#7).
- Make
sure your cleaning crew is aware of the recycling program and
how to separate it from the regular waste. Our cleaning crew was
tossing everything in the garbage bin!
- Disposing
of computer and electronic equipment can be tricky. Search locally
for recycling centers or organizations that have a need for donated
equipment. Techsoup has great information on recycling
computer equipment.
Reduce
Pollution
- We
were surprised to see many Telosa employees take advantage of
our alternative transportation subsidies. Encourage your employees
to take the train, bus or carpool by reimbursing some or all of
their costs.
Reduce
Consumption
- Use
less energy though more efficient fixtures and equipment (use
LCD monitors, convert to fluorescent "Super T8" Bulbs).
- Have
your local government (county or city) perform an energy audit.
- To
find out how to buy green energy in your area, use The
Green Power Network tool.
- We
waste a lot of water. Get rid of the water dispenser (tap water
is fine), install low flow toilets and use drip irrigation outside.
- Learn
more about reducing energy consumption in the office at Techsoup's
website.
